Top Tip! We haven't actually yet been to a game at Napoli's stadium as they were not playing when we went to Naples. However we went to see the stadium the day before they won the Serie A in 2023. The stadium is not much to look at on the outside but we found when walking around a gate was open. The staff asked us did we want to come and and allowed us to walk around the stadium unattended to take our photo's! If you get the opportunity, do it!
The Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is obviously named after their greatest ever player. A unique stadium with a passionate crowd. Napoli have won the league just 3 times (as of 2024) but the Neapolitans are fiercely proud of their team. The streets adorn flags and photos everywhere of FC Napoli.
Getting there: The best way to travel to the stadium from the Centre of Naples was by bus. Take the 151 bus from the Circumvesuviana central station. Or the 152 bus from Central Station. Both fares cost around £1. Ask the driver for the stadium by name and he will tell you when to get off the bus. Alternatively keep your eyes out for the stadium and you will see it after about a 20 minutes journey. We travelled from a holiday in Sorrento and took a train to Naples. It cost around £12 return and takes 2 hours each way. The trains are very safe.
Taking a Stadium Tour - Unfortunately at the time of writing, FC Napoli were not offering stadium tours. But see my top tip above if you would like to go and have a look at the stadium. The staff appear to be very accommodating.
Match Tickets - Tickets are fairly easy to come by apart from the derby games against Lazio, Juventus and the Milan teams. But they do offer tickets specially for international fans wanting to see the team. They are quite reasonable and prices start from just £22. You can buy them online here
