El Monumental is the stadium for River Plate and the Aregentina national football team. The stadium is iconic as one the best in South America and has hosted the 1978 world cup final where Argentina were victorious on their home turf. We visited this ground back in 2019 and it was a truly brilliant stadium worth a visit.
Getting there: If you are staying in the centre of Buenos Aires you need to take the metro on the green line (D) to Congresso de Tucuman. You will then need to walk approx 20 minutes to the stadium. a fare is going to cost you just £1.
We found the best way was actually to take the brilliant hop on hop off bus ride in Buenos Aires where the El Monumental is a stop! You can access the ticket site here. The cost of this bus is approx £31 and for that you get 24 hours bus service and a lot of great stops. It's worth noting that La Bombonera is also a stop so you can 2 world class stadiums on this tour alone!
Taking a Stadium Tour -A truly excellent tour where you can walk on the outside of the pitch and have your photo taken with famous trophies. the tour will costs you approx £36 and you can book your tickets here
Match Tickets - Tickets are very hard to come by for River Plate. We think the best way to attend a game is a guided tour where you get a brilliant experience for many hours. For approx £131 per adult you can get a match ticket, drinks, food, local guide and a pre match experience. you won't regret paying this money! Book through here
