The Maracanã Stadium (Brazil, Flamengo & Fluminense

The Maracanã is one of the most iconic football stadiums in the world and is home to the Brazilian national football teams as well as the two Rio clubs. We attended the Fla-Flu derby and was one of the greatest football experience of our lives! A must do bucket list stadium!

Getting there: Important! The Maracanã stadium is not in one of Rio's safest areas and so we advise you to take taxi's to this stadium for the tour or a guided tour for attending a football match. Taking a taxi from Copacabana or Ipanema beach hotels will take approximately 15 minutes and cost only around £7 each way. Your taxi driver will walk you over to the stadium from where you are parked. The taxi driver will return for you if you tell them a time (we recommend 2 hours). If you are on a budget option take the Metro Rio via Central. It will take 30 minutes and cost approx £1.50 each way.

Taking a Stadium Tour - The Maracanã stadium tour and museum is a must see experience. Tours are booked in advance and cost approx £10 per adult. the tours are from 09:00 to 16:00. You can buy them here

Match Tickets - We recommend for a safe trip to book your ticket via Viator here. The tickets will costs approx £61 each for all Flamengo or Fluminense games. This includes your guide, match ticket and a welcome drink. Take a taxi from your hotel for approx £7
